Please send your child with a heavy coat, hat, and gloves. You can send your child with chapstick to keep in their pencil box. Also, if your child needs to have cough drops that is fine they will keep them in their pencil box as well.
ELA-
We are still plugging away at reading groups. Please remember to read at home with your child. Also, when the reading bags are sent home please make sure they get returned the next day. We will be finishing up verbs and will then move back to adjectives. After grading several papers I felt they all needed a little more time with adjectives.
Writing-
The students are excited to write a letter to Santa. What the don't know is they are working on writing letters and using commas. We will also be working on other short writing projects throughout the next 2 1/2 weeks.
Math-
Place value is the current skill we are working on. Students are learning that there is more than one way to show a number. We have currently worked on numbers with base 10 blocks. Students will also work on numbers in written and expanded form.
Social Studies-
We are still working on economy. Students have discussed needs and wants, goods and services, and producers and consumers so far in Social Studies. We will also discuss supply and demand, world trade, saving, spending, borrowing, giving, and the role of banks. I plan on wrapping this unit up by Wednesday. For the last week and a half students will put what the know into action through the Santa Store Economics.
