I fixed the newsletter so you can now view it. I forgot to hit post after typing it all up. I will hopefully be getting a lot more new and cool things on my website as I learn more on how to use weebly. Hope you are having a great weekend.
Wow!!! What a great 1st week!!
ELA (English Language Arts)- We have been reviewing consonants and vowels. This week we will be working on compound words and continue with vowel sounds. We are also going over reading group procedures and what I expect from them while we are at reading groups. Math-We have been reviewing our addition strategies this week and will continue to work on these strategies next week. We will also be moving on to subtraction strategies. Writing-This year I want the students to write a lot. We will use organizers to help us with our writing. We have already completed 2 pieces of writing. Social Studies/Science This first 9 weeks we will be focusing on Social Studies. Students will be learning about civics and government. Concepts like local, state and national government, citizenship, and the community around them will be taught. Additional Information: Please remember to sign up on mrsbarnessecondgrade.weebly.com. I will post my newsletter in my blog every week and it will go straight to your e-mail. After this week I will only print copies of the newsletter for those who wanted a paper copy. I will also be adding our spelling list and lunch menu to my blog in the coming days. Our schedule has already been added to my blog site. So head on over and sign up to get all the information. Please remember we take our test on Wednesdays. I know this is different than what you are used to and will take some adjustments, so study early. I hope you had a great summer and are ready for 2nd grade!!!
