On Google Classroom have added assignments for the students to work on as a review while we are on an extended break.
To log in to Google Classroom have your student log on to google with the following login: [email protected] No spaces between their first and last name. password: This will be the number they use to log on to their school computers, lunch, and library. Free Lunch/Breakfast The school is offering a free grab and go lunch for students age 1-18. You will need to use the entrance at the back loop of the school building. In the lunch bag will be a free breakfast as well. The student treasure class book orders will be due by Tuesday March 3rd. I think you can order online after March 3rd, but I have to send in all the orders and the book by the end of day on March 4th. The party will be February 11 from 10:00-10:30. Parents are welcome to attend. Students will need to bring in their own box for the Valentine's Day party. Winter Carnival Silent Auction sheets came home last week. Our class will be auctioning off a Kansas City Chiefs basket. If you have any new items to donate I would appreciate it. We have a new reading series that goes along with the spelling and I got a little ahead of the book with the first spelling test. This way what we work on in the classroom for word work will be the same as what is on the test.
New spelling list will come home on Wednesdays. Students will also have an activity sheet they will need to use to help practice their words. They will need to complete the activities in their spelling notebooks on Wednesday, Thursday, Monday and Tuesday. Then bring the spelling notebook back on Wednesday. This will give you Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to either catch up or get ahead. The students have been doing a great job in the classroom. We have been going over guided reading expectations and guided math expectations.
Writing Workshop We have started writing boot camp. The students are learning about the different steps in the writing process. Monday we learned about brainstorming and why we brainstorm ideas before we write. We will also learn about organizing/writing, revising, editing, and publishing this week. Reading- We are going over what it means to be an expert second grader and what my expectations are. We will start using our reading series on Wednesday. Math- We have been going over guided math expectations of what I will be doing in the classroom and what is expected of them during guided math. The first chapter is over basic addition strategies. Strategies like using a number line, doubles, order of the addends, and making ten are just a few of the strategies. |
